Bali’s position as one of the world’s favorite tourist destinations is getting stronger in the eyes of travelers. This is proven by the annual award from the travel site TripAdvisor, which ranks Bali as the second most popular destination in the world.
Bali’s ranking in the Traveller’s Choice Award for Destinations 2023 from TripAdvisor rose two levels compared to the previous position. This means that Bali is more favored by tourists than three big cities in the world that are much more famous, namely London (3), Rome (4), and Paris (5).
“Bali rose two ranks, from fourth place in 2022 to second place in 2023, beating London in third place and Paris in fifth place,” said Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Menparekraf Sandiaga revealed that the Travelers’ Choice Award for Destinations indicator is based on the quality and quantity of reviews during the period of November 2021-October 2022. In addition to the global ranking, there are also subcategories of accommodation, restaurants, and other interesting things that can be done at tourist attractions.
“Bali’s task is to be a feeder for the other 5 DSPs (Super Priority Destinations). This is an achievement that we should be grateful for. We hope that in the future other destinations in Indonesia besides Bali will develop,” said Sandi.
In addition, Menparekraf also said that destinations other than the Island of the Gods can enter the list as the most popular destinations for vacationing tourists’ choices.
